The Episcopal Council exists where there are a number of episcopal vicars in a diocese. It comprises the bishop’s vicars. In the council, it is only the bishop who has the power of governance. The council has only consultative function, as it majorly assists in pastoral and spiritual matters in the diocese. It is a complement to the governance of the bishop but not a substitution. Therefore, in the Diocese of Eldoret, the Council is made up of the following: the Diocesan bishop, Auxiliary Bishop, Judicial Vicar, Episcopal Vicars for Consecrated Life, and for the Clergy, and the three Vicars of Pastoral Regions.
