The Diocesan Curia of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret, is under the leadership of Rt. Rev. Dominic Kimengich, the Diocesan Bishop, and his Auxiliary, Rt. Rev. John Kiplimo Arap Lelei. By virtue of his office, the Diocesan Bishop participates in the Mission of Christ (Teaching, Governing and Sanctification) in his Diocese.
The auxiliary Bishop engages in pastoral care by preaching, administering sacraments, and offering spiritual guidance to the faithful. Beyond these duties, he may oversee specific administrative responsibilities delegated by the Diocesan Bishop, and is consulted on major pastoral matters. He supports the diocesan bishop in episcopal duties, such as ordinations and church dedications, and presides over significant diocesan and parish events like confirmations. He collaborates closely with the vicars and curial officials, ensuring cohesive administrative and pastoral operations across the Diocese.
The diocesan curia, is a group of institutions and persons who assist the bishop in governing the diocese. It includes offices like the vicar general, chancellor, finance officer, and tribunal, responsible for administrative, pastoral, and judicial tasks. Its role is the managing of the diocese’s resources and coordinating pastoral activities. The curia supports the bishop's mission to shepherd the faithful and ensure smooth diocesan operations in line with church law.
For good governance and necessary coordination, the Diocese of Eldoret is divided into three pastoral regions established as per the civil counties it covers, namely Nandi Pastoral Region (Nandi County), Uasin Gishu Pastoral Region (Uasin Gishu County), and Elgeyo Marakwet Pastoral Region (Elgeyo Marakwet County). The Bishop appointed an Episcopal Vicar for each of these Pastoral regions to assist in running and managing the affairs of the Diocese.
