This section plays a pivotal role in addressing various needs within the community. Through its comprehensive efforts, Caritas exemplifies its dedication to fostering holistic development and social justice within the Diocese.
One of its primary initiatives, Education for Life, focuses on supporting individuals affected by HIV/AIDS, ensuring they receive necessary care and education to lead fulfilling lives. Additionally, Caritas emphasizes Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to equip people with skills essential for formal and informal employment. This initiative reflects a proactive approach towards sustainable livelihoods. Furthermore, Caritas places significant emphasis on gender inclusivity, promoting an environment where all individuals can progress and develop equitably.
Moreover, Caritas addresses critical social issues through its Counselling and Addictions Rehabilitation programmes, offering vital life skills training and outreach efforts. These initiatives not only support individuals dealing with addiction but also strengthen community cohesion by providing necessary support systems. Additionally, Caritas is committed to Environmental Sustainability and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiatives, safeguarding natural resources and improving living conditions for vulnerable populations. In addition, Caritas support the Social Ministry initiatives that include vulnerable and the aged; Programme for children and youth with disabilities; child welfare and protection; refugees, seafarers, street families, itinerant persons, and emergence interventions; and good Samaritans office. Under its Socioeconomic Empowerment Initiative, Caritas supports self-help groups to be established in all the parishes in the Diocese. These groups help their members to harness resources for personal economic growth, and charitable activities. The SILC are table banking communities initiated by CRS under Caritas Eldoret.
Caritas operates the Agriculture and CARYM departments, focusing on value addition and agro-ecology. These initiatives engage farmers, women's groups, youth groups, and individuals in promoting environmentally sustainable farming practices that yield economically viable outputs. Through these efforts, participants are empowered to adopt ecologically friendly methods that enhance productivity and profitability in agriculture.
